A.J. Burnett took the hill last night, giving up 2 hits, an earned run, and four walks over 2.1 innings. He struck out two batters in the process. Zack Segovia came on in relief and tossed 1.2 innings of scoreless ball. He wound up with the win, which was his first of the spring (W, 1-0).

The big story of the day was the appearance of Mariano Rivera in his first game action of the spring. He posted up a scoreless frame, giving up one hit, a walk and he struck out one batter.

After Mo got his one inning of work in, it was time for Phil Hughes to put on a show for management, and he did exactly that. Hughes finished the game, throwing up four scoreless frames, allowing 3 hits, one walk and he picked up 2K’s. Hughes picked up his first save of the spring (S,1).

In total, the Yankees offense knocked in 4 runs on 8 hits. Nick Swisher picked up an RBI double in the bottom of the 2nd inning, knocking in Jorge Posada from second base. Mark Teixeira hit a solo home run in the 3rd inning (2nd HR of ST). Soon after that, Jorge Posada singled on a ground ball, allowing Robbie Cano to score. Cano went 2-for-3 on the game, with a run and an RBI.
