The amateur draft is all over, but there was one very interesting pick in this years draft for the Yankees. In the 42nd round, the Yankees drafted Michael O’Neill, Paul O’Neill’s nephew. While he is verbally committed to Michigan to play baseball, it was certainly interesting that the Yankees drafted him. He stands 6 feet tall and weighs in at a slim 175 pounds and plays CF. While it is unknown whether or not he will accept the scholarship at Michigan or sign with the Bombers is unknown at this point.

Imagine a world where he plays for the Yankees and makes it through the system to eventually be allowed to wear number 21. I don’t think many Yankee fans would object. I know number 2 (as seen in the picture) won’t be anymore if he cracks the big league club.
