Future Stars at the plate: Slade Heathcott, the Yankees’ first-round Draft pick last year, led off the game with a single but was stranded on third. Jesus Montero also singled in the first inning, but David Adams popped up with runners on the corners and no outs. The Future Stars finally broke through when Bradley Suttle and Eduardo Nunez strung together back-to-back RBI singles in the fourth.

Yankees at the plate: After Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada and Mark Teixeira loaded the bases with no outs in the first, Robinson Cano hit a two-run double to left. Nick Swisher followed with a booming sacrifice fly to center, one of his two sac flies in the game. Teixeira finished 1-for-1 with a walk, adding an RBI single in the third. Marcus Thames tacked on a solo homer in the fifth.

Future Stars on the mound: Jonathan Albaladejo allowed three runs (two earned) in two-thirds of an inning. Ivan Nova breezed through the second inning, but served up two runs on four hits in the third, in addition to single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Yankees on the mound: In his final spring tune-up, Javier Vazquez allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings. Vazquez struck out two and walked one. Reliever Mark Melancon, who could make an appearance in the Bronx this season, allowed two runs in relief of Vazquez. Switch-pitcher Pat Venditte, facing four batters right-handed and one batter lefty, allowed one run in the eighth.
