The shirt is entitled: “Tedsicicle.” A joke on the Red Sox and the Williams family, as they decided to freeze the corpse of Teddy Ballgame years ago.

The new t-shirt will be available before tomorrow’s game outside Yankee Stadium. Vinny will be on River Avenue, outside Billy’s Bar..in his usual spot. The shirt costs $15 (AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER. SHIRT WILL SHIP ON 4/1). The same artist (Craig Mahoney) who did that Phil Hughes painting for me did the artwork on this shirt. Major props to Vinny on this clever design.

Back in early April, Craig Mahoney started to work on this project of mine. Over the last week, Craig did some minor touch-up work on his head, glove and pinstripes and now it’s finally complete.

The main picture on the canvas shows Phil Hughes delivering a pitch, and to the left, you can see him kneeling on the mound (which is a pre-game ritual of his).  It took a while, but he really put his time and effort into it, and it shows in the finished product. It came out great.

You can check out Craig’s blog at: Craig Mahoney Studios. He runs his own podcast, and hosts a Pinstriped Podcast (Yankees-related) once a week. You can also subscribe to his podcast on iTunes (Search: Craig Mahoney Podcast). Be sure to tune in. If you’re interested in his artwork, you should take a look at some of his other projects. He’s available for commission work. Feel free to contact him. He’ll be re-launching his site in September. Artist, Craig Mahoney, continues to work tirelessly over my Phil Hughes painting. It’s really coming along now, and before you know it..it will probably be completed. I will post another update when it’s completely finished, so stay tuned.

The main picture of Hughes on the canvas is from the final season of Yankee Stadium, which means the uniform has the commemorative Yankee Stadium patch. That wasn’t particularly a good season for Hughes and I didn’t want this painting to be of one particular year, so I’ve decided to take it out.

As a big supporter and fan of Phil Hughes, I decided to go out and order a custom painting of him. I contacted artist, Craig Mahoney, as I really loved his prior work. We spoke about exactly what I wanted to be done and the rest is history.

Basically, the painting will consist of two pictures of Hughes. The main picture will show Phil throwing a ball, and the other one will show him crouching behind the mound (a pre-game ritual of his). Craig is only in the beginning stages of this project, and there is a lot more work to be done.

I will post more updates of the painting at the halfway point and when it is completely finished, so stay tuned. You can check out Craig’s blog at: Craig Mahoney Studios. Follow him on Twitter: @CraigMahoney
