Pitching:
Alfredo Aceves has been in the middle of the 5th starter debate, whether you like it or not. Today, his campaign for the slot took a hit. Aceves failed to complete 5 innings, allowing five earned runs on 5 hits. His final line was: (L, 1-1) 4.1IP 5H 5R 5ER 1BB 2K. Melancon came in to finish up the fifth inning, but that didn’t work out so well. Mark gave up two hits and surrendered another run. He eventually finished up the inning.
Boone Logan posted a scoreless 6th inning, while picking up a strikeout. Dustin Moseley pitched the 7th and 8th inning, allowing 2 runs on three hits.
Offense:
The Yankees out-hit the Astros, but still came up short in the end. The team collected 6 runs on 16 hits, and drew three walks. Robbie Cano hit a solo blast off of Brett Myers in the top of the 2nd inning. A-Rod went 2-for-3 (2 doubles) and knocked in 2RBI’s. Jorge Vazquez went 2-for-2.
Brett Gardner went 2-for-3 with a run. (Triple, Single) He also got picked off from first base again. It seems like he gets picked off an awful lot. Am I right? We all know that he can flat-out run, but I think he needs to work on that. I’m sure Andy Pettitte would have a fun time teaching him a lesson. (more…)
