The Yankees’ groundbreaking HOPE Week initiative was mentioned by President Barack Obama at the White House on Monday, and now the team is preparing to give more HOPE in 2010.

The Yankees announced Wednesday that the HOPE Week community outreach event will return on August 16-20, during the Yankees’ seven-game homestand against the Tigers and Mariners.

Once again, Yankees players, coaches and front-office staff will reach out each day to an individual, family or organization worthy of recognition and support. Every player on the roster, along with manager Joe Girardi and his coaching staff, participates.

“HOPE Week was such an important week for our entire team during our championship run in 2009,” Girardi said. “It’s great that the Yankees organization will once again allow us to reach out and reward five more inspiring stories during the 2010 season. It should be another special week.”

We all know how involved the New York Yankees get in the community, but the organization reached a whole other level last year of community service, when they started “HOPE Week”. I’m very much looking foward to it.
