Marc Carig of the Newark Star-Ledger has some notes from today’s conference call available here. Among the items he mentions:
- Joe Girardi anticipates that there might be line-up changes, including a position move for Derek Jeter (although nothing has been seriously discussed yet)
- Brian Cashman hasn’t met yet with the Steinbrenners, so there isn’t a budget in place yet for 2011
- The search for a new pitching coach will probably take while. (I wonder: could the Yanks try to convince Leo Mazzone to un-retire?)
- CC Sabathia pitched through the torn miniscus that caused him to undergo surgery earlier this week, since early in the season. (My respect for CC’s toughness just went way up)
Anyway, hit the link and tell us what you think!
So in the playoffs we basically had a rotation of C.C. “Torn Meniscus” Sabathia, Andy “Bad back, aching knee and residual groin sensitivity” Petitte, Phil “Hey come on I’m just a kid” Hughes, and A.J. Burnette. And we thought we were gonna hoist #28? Puh-leeze…
2011 is gonna be a scary year as this group will only be another year older. And with no Nick Johnson’s on the horizon…
So where’d my comment go? Don’t tell me I’m gonna have problems on the blog side too….grrrrr….
Oh, NOW it shows up, making me look like a fool. Damn you, zell….damn you… ;)
