News and Notes (Courtesy of MLB.com):
- Monday night marked the first time all season the Yankees played without both Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez in the starting lineup. Rodriguez is on the disabled list with a strained left calf while Jeter was simply receiving a routine day off. The Yankees only played twice without those two stars in 2009, both in the final week of the season. Eduardo Nunez and Ramiro Pena manned the left side of the infield for New York.
- Jeter did pinch-hit for Nunez with two outs in the ninth on Monday, fouling out to first to end the game.
- Brett Gardner picked up his 10th outfield assist of the season when he threw out Fred Lewis at home in the first inning.
- Bautista’s homer snapped Robertson’s streak of 19 scoreless appearances, dating back to July 2, when the reliever allowed four runs to the Blue Jays in New York. Robertson had not served up a home run since May 5, when he allowed homers to Matt Wieters and Nolan Reimold of the Orioles.
- The Blue Jays and Yankees have split their first 10 games this season, with three going to extra innings and three others decided by two or fewer runs.
The game will take place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario. It’s slated to start at 7:07PM ET. The game is being televised on MY9. The game can also be heard on the radio on WCBS 880.
