He lost the chance to add more of a workload under his belt, and many scouts and experts dropped him on their top prospect lists after he struggled last year.
Entering this season, he came out of the gate with all guns blazing. He’s cut down on his walks (which was a big issue for him), his strikeout rate is up, and he’s pitching to a WHIP of 0.85. In his last 10 outings of the season, he’s gone (W-L, 6-1) with a 2.02ERA, with 61K’s in 49IP. I think it’s fair to say that Dellin’s answering the critics. His “Big Unit” type of frame (6’8″) and scorching fastball has many fans anticipating his debut in pinstripes.

He’s probably a year away. Here’s hoping they don’t Joba-ize him. If the team is smart, they’ll coax Pettite back for another season in 2011, sign Cliff Lee (to replace Vazquez) and let Hughes get acclimated to being the #guy. In 2012, you bring Betances up as the #5 starter – projecting a rotation of:
Sabathia
Lee
Hughes
Burnett
Betances
Ray, that’s funny..because I had the rotation look exactly the same way in my mind. You should work on a post about 2012…probably stir up a nice conversation. Or I will. Haha

been following this kid since his staten island days .. Glad to hear hes back on track!
You’ll see Brackman b4 Betances IMO…
he has 40 man/call up issues because of his ML contract and he’s on the same (health & mechanics) track as Betances.
That may be true, but Brackman is 24 years old right now..turning 25 in December. A 4.40ERA combine with Tampa and Trenton isn’t something to get too excited about. Although, he’s been much better of late.
