News and Notes (Courtesy of MLB.com):
- The Yankees are the first AL team to have five players with at least 50 runs and 50 RBIs: Robinson Cano, Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Nick Swisher and Mark Teixeira.
- Teixeira has hit at least 25 home runs in each of his first eight Major League seasons, which, according to the Elias Sports Bureau, makes him just the fourth player in baseball history to accomplish the feat. Eddie Mathews (11 seasons), Albert Pujols (10 seasons) and Darryl Strawberry (nine seasons) are the others.
- Cano has reached base in nine of his last 13 plate appearances.
- Alfredo Aceves (strained lower back) is scheduled to throw one inning in a rehab start on Tuesday, likely for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and two innings on Friday.
- The Yankees are 60-0 when leading after the eighth inning.
- The Sox have won or split 19 of 23 series since May 17.
- Jeter collected his 2,874th career base hit Sunday, passing Babe Ruth on the all-time hits list.
- The Yankees will hold their second annual HOPE Week, a community outreach event, from Aug. 16-20 to kick off their next homestand.
The game will take place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. It’s slated to start at 1:05PM ET. The game is being televised on the YES Network. The game can also be heard on the radio on WCBS 880.
