Dave Allen at Baseball Analysts released a pretty cool graph, which compiles data from several projection systems to display the outlook of the AL East standings. As you can see in the graph below, the New York Yankees come out in first place 5 out of 6 times. So it would be a smart thing to get into some sports betting action and bet on the Yankees! The only projection system that doesn’t have them in first place is PECOTA, which places the Yankees in 3rd place behind the Red Sox and Rays. The graphs show a three-team race, while the Orioles and Jays squander at the bottom. The Orioles are projected to come in under 80 wins, and most of the systems have the Jays under the 70-win mark, or just above it. I would say that I generally agree with that these systems project.
