Here are a few things that are floating around the Yankees universe as we ready ourselves for pitchers and catchers this week.
- Kevin Long worked with Nick Johnson about using the lower half of his body in order not to be beat on the inside pitches this season.
- If Phil Hughes starts this year, the restrictions on his workload won’t be a strict as compared to Joba’s, so says Dave Eiland.
- Marc Craig details how the Yankees remade some of their roster primarily through offseason trades this year.
- Cuban SS Adeinis Hechavarria has drawn some attention from the Yankees, who some believe will be very interested in signing the 21 year old SS. There is even talk that he may be Jeter’s heir apparent at SS if he signs.
- USA Today released their annual list of 100 names we need to know, on the list Mark Melancon comes in at #52, Zach McAllister at #56, Jamie Hoffmann at #58, and Jesus Montero at #66. Give it a read when you get a chance.
- Jesus Montero is working on his defense behind the plate and wants to stay a Yankee for his whole career. (H/T to RAB)
